I was sitting here trying to think of something prophetic to say about today's ever popular engagement session, but found myself staring at my cool new calculator instead.

I think most photographers these days would agree that taking part in an engagement shoot is a very, very good idea. It does more, however, than just give you a bunch of fun photos to look at. First, it offers your photographer the chance to get you to know you and your fiance a bit. Great wedding photos boil down to a great relationship b/w client and photographer. Other than the initial "client meeting," the engagement session is the first real chance to get a relationship with your photographer off to a good start! In my opinion it's less a photo shoot and more a hang out session. I rely on the personalities of my clients to lead the photo shoot. Typically, they're style will reflect heavily in the end product.

Secondly, the session gives you a chance to see how your photographer likes to work. You'll learn a lot in two hours about the professional that you've chosen. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. It's best that you know as much about the "process" as possible. Consider the session "picture practice." Take advantage of any time you have with your photographer prior to your wedding. Your photos will benefit in the end!!

Breaking News...Ashley and Aaron are getting married this June and I get the pleasure of working with them! When we first met last year, I asked what their occupations were. It was obvious at that point in time that I never watched the local news. Well I do now, sorta. The only problem is that I don't know who to watch. Ashley works for Channel 5 and Aaron works for KNWA :) So to be fair, I trade off. Ha. www.jeremycavness.com

These two were married this weekend in Sarasota, FL! Holy moly how I wish I was still down there. When I left it was 78 and sunny...20 hours later there's 8 inches of snow. Thanks Arkansas. Laura + Josh = AMAZING! Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your big day! Also, as I was driving home I was pondering..."if you live in Sarasota, where do you honeymoon too?" Answer: Hawaii. Have fun guys! www.jeremycavness.com

I'm super honored to be down here in Sarasota to work with a good college bud of mine, Josh Hunt and his fiance Laura Thurman. I'm not sure I can call this a destination wedding, however...they both live here. Ha. I opt to drive, without really knowing how long it took to get here. I did 16 hours and 1000 miles yesterday before I had to crash in Gainsville, FL. That left me with just over 2 hours this morning. The weather is amazing and the city itself is pretty sweet. I love it because it actually has a "historic" district. I'm so used to all of the resort towns like Desin, Watercolor and Rosemary Beach, where all you'll find are beach houses and shopping malls. It's nice to have that city / beach mix I suppose. I also noticed that this place is loaded with old people. So weird. I always wondered where my grandparents went for Spring Break, I guess now I know. The only thing missing really, is my wife! Abby had to stay and work unfortunately :( Check out more of our Destination Weddings online at: www.jeremycavness.com
